There are many different types of cancer, with a myriad of treatments and possible side effects that ensue. Yoga Therapy can be offered alongside these treatments, to empower and support individuals to negotiate the physical, emotional and mental aspects that this journey brings.
This course will be packed with information, tips, tools and shared experience to build your knowledge and confidence to work therapeutically with people going through and beyond cancer treatments, in a clinical setting, individually or in groups.

Meet Your Tutor
Your tutor, Sue Skelton draws on years of experience working with people who have a cancer diagnosis, to provide this unique training. Sue worked for over 20 years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology and Palliative Care, both in NHS hospitals and Community settings. She works with women with cancer through the Charity Victoria’s Promise, delivering yoga sessions and also for the Synthesis Clinic offering Yoga Therapy for their clients as well as offering 1:1 private sessions.
Course Content:
Over the 3 sessions you will learn:
The physiology of cancers and their treatments
The yogic approach to cancer using the 5 kosha model, and drawing on evidence based research
Practical skills and confidence to talk to and work with people with cancer and their carers; building a heart-centred rapport building connection, support and community
To adapt and individualise yoga practices in response to treatments, surgeries and medical implements, as well as contraindications
Establish the benefits of working both individually and with groups within different settings
How to support those who are receiving Palliative Support
To understand the importance of deep relaxation using Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Nidra and guided relaxation
Working with the NHS and cancer charities
